The Honorable Teodoro Maus, former Mexican Consul in Atlanta visited PATH to speak to our students about furthering their education and to tell them about The Celina & Marcos Scholarship Fund for Hispanic students.
On February 28 PATH Academy students participated in their second-annual Lobby Day at the Capitol. The entire student body of PATH Academy stormed the Capitol Building asking for the Georgia House of Representatives to support HB 230, the Time for Schools Act. This bill would require businesses to give their employees up to 8 hours of time off to participate in school activities for their children.

Cody Lyon from the Georgia Secretary of State's Office discusses the
election and voting process with students, while they try out new
touch-screen voting machines.
On
Tuesday, February 18th, Fiona Page,
a blind storyteller and professional speaker, visited the school to
teach the students about the everyday challenges of being blind. Fiona
also shared with the students about the art of using stories to communicate
effectively. The students were particularly interested in Braille
and how learning it is very similar to learning a new verbal language.
Governor
Roy Barnes visits during the opening ceremonies. The school opened
its door to 64 fifith grade students on July 15th, 2002. The school
will add a new grade each year and will eventually maintain classes
for 5th to 8th grade students.
